Thursday Morning

• Alarm goes off at 6:30.  Sage gets up just after.  Can hear her wheel Jasper’s bassinet down to the table so that he can be next to her while she does crafts.   Jasper is babbling away.
• 7am Geoff gets up.  Me too.  Geoff gets ready, gets his lunch and leaves.
• I nurse Jasper.  Play on the couch with him and Sage.  I pretend to be Jasper talking.  Sage thinks it’s hilarious.
• Sage goes up to her room to play and Jasper goes on the floor.  I tidy the kitchen up.
• Jasper not happy so goes into swing.
• Sage comes back down.  Kettle goes on.  I think about what to do to keep Sage occupied today.  Hope that the weather warms up.
• Jasper happy to sit in his swing and watch Sage play with his toys.
• Sage “Could you please hold him?” Me “no” Sage “Why? I can’t take care of him” Me “he’s in his swing, you don’t need to”
• Coffee is ready.
• Jasper wants breakfast.  Oatmeal and a jar of pears today.
• I tell Sage to get our her playdough and pick out the pieces we could use at cookie cutters.  Gets very excited.
• Go change Jasper’s diaper.  How does so much poop come out of such a tiny little body?
• Put him back in highchair to watch Sage play.
• I go upstairs.  Finally get to drink coffee.  Look out window.  Hostas have come up like crazy already.
• Go put Jasper down for his morning nap.
• Clean stove.
• Love, love, love the vintage Le Creuset pot I just got that used to belong to my grandmother.
• Make the rounds of the house picking up stuff.  How on earth did my bra get there?
• Another load of laundry goes in.  Sigh.
• 9:30 Am hungry.  Bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios.
• Sage goes upstairs to play her Kidoz games on the computer.
• I look around at the sea of plastic toys that has overtaken our living room.  Forgot how much one tiny baby uses.  Would sell my soul for a playroom.
• Upstairs to print off sugar cookie recipe.  Sage comes out to look at my scrapbooking stuff.
• Wash the pots from last night’s dinner.
• Sage comes down dressed as a ballerina.
• We start making the cookies.  Butter is too hard.  Set aside.
• Let Sage wash all the cookie cutter pieces.
• Jasper is up.  Nurse.  Go get him dressed.  Sage and Jasper play on my bed.  I fold laundry.
• Sage goes outside to play.  Misbehaves.  Get’s sent to her room and I tell her we will not finish the cookies today.
• I finish making the dough and put it into the fridge for tomorrow.
• Jasper and I come upstairs.  Me on computer.  Him in Intellitainer.
• Sage keeps opening her door.  Am very frustrated with her now.
• At noon I let her come out.  Gets spoken to.  Same conversation we’ve had 100 times in the last couple months.
• She plays with Jasper for a few minutes.  Requests peanut butter and jam for lunch.
• We all go downstairs and she starts to feed Jasper while I make her sandwich.
• I go to get her a glass of milk and knock the glass over.  Goes all the way down front of fridge.  Take all the magnets off and throw them in the sink to wash.
• I finish feeding the baby. Change him and put him down for a nap.
• Sage’s sandwich smelled good so I make myself one too.
• Tell Sage that she can pick out a movie and take the portable dvd player to her room.  Not a good day for me.

Wednesday Afternoon

• Put more boxes of clothes back in storage.  Make list of what Jasper does and does not need in size 12-18 months.  I love shopping the BabyGap sale racks ahead of time!  List goes into wallet.
• 2:15 Jasper up.  Not a good enough nap.  Buzzer from washing machine woke him up.
• Chicken is thawed.  Mix up marinade and put into fridge.
• Go get Jasper.  Love his big smile when I come into the room.
• Load of laundry not dry.  Put on longer.
• Sit on floor with Jasper.  Build block towers for him to knock down.  Thinks me clapping at him is hilarious.
• Leave to fold more laundry.  He is not happy about that.  Nurse.
• Put Jasper in Jumperoo.  Back to folding.  Not happy.  Put Oprah on.  He loves looking at her.  Is about Octomom.  Get tired just thinking about having that many kids.
• Wash Sage’s winter coats / snowpants.  Find room in our closet for the Bugaboo pieces we’re not using right now.
• More laundry.  Ugh.
• Time to go get Sage.
• She has applesauce as snack and watches Handy Manny.
• Jasper goes down for nap.  Put Sage’s freshly cleaned winter stuff in box in closet.  Hopefully will fit her again next year.
• 30 mins later buzzer goes off on dryer.  Wakes Jasper up.
• Put him in highchair with a rice cracker.  Put chicken in oven.  Start prepping dinner.  Jasper is fussy so put him on couch with Sage.
• Geoff gets home.  Jasper is mad.  Back in highchair he goes.  Feed him dinner.  Geoff takes over.
• I go back to making dinner.  Improvising a pasta sauce with what I have on hand.  Artichokes and wine.  Wish I had some black olives.
• Jasper screaming again.  I take gulps of white wine.  helps.  :)
• Am exhausted.  So exhausted.  All the time.
• We eat.
• 6pm Geoff says he’ll take the kids to the park.  Sweet.  Since he’ll be driving I steal the rest of his wine too.  He’s taking the camera.  This should be interesting.
• Silence.   Bliss.  Feels like Jasper screamed all day.  He’s been so clingy lately.  When we’re home he wants me to carry him around all the time.  When we’re out he’s great.
• Look at blogs.  Love Dear Lizzy’s post from today.  Want to be her when I grow up.  Pretty sure I’m already older than she is though.  Sigh.
• Back downstairs and put leftovers away.  Turn on today’s Oprah.
• Geoff and the kids are back.  Brought me back a Rolo McFlurry but am way too stuffed to eat it.  Goes into freezer.
• Nurse Jasper…show Geoff the iPad on Oprah.  Look at the pictures Geoff took.
• Geoff gets Jasper ready for bed.  Sage comes and cuddles on the couch with me.
• Wants me to read her story!  We read Miss Nelson is Back.  Twinkle.
• Finally get around to watching Lost.  Sage comes back for a drink of water.
• When Lost is done we go to bed.

Wednesday Morning

• 5am Jasper crying.  I go put soother in since I now have to get up to use the bathroom anyways.  Half-heartedly whines off and on for the next hour.
• 7am I nurse him.  Sage comes into bed too.  Wants to know why I didn’t wear a shirt to bed last night.
• I get up to make Sage’s lunch.  Go upstairs to get her clothes ready.  Discover that she lied yesterday when she told me she hung the outfits she was trying on back in the closet.
• Get her breakfast.  Honey Nut Cheerios this morning.
• Clean Jasper’s nose.  Fun!  Cuddle with him as he is miserable after this.  Put him back on floor.
• Sage brushes teeth and hair and gets dressed.
• She goes walking up and down the driveway to see if she’ll be too cold in her capri’s.  Says it’s good.
• We’re ready 10 minutes early so they play together on the floor.  I get my coffee ready, unload and load the dishwasher and start thawing the chicken for tonight.
• 8:10 leave for bus.
• Get back and give Jasper breakfast.  Oatmeal and peaches.  Put kettle on.  Zip Jasper into Woombie.  Best invention ever.  Put him down for a nap in his own crib.
• Start laundry.  Make bed.  Pick up clothes.  Realize my kid’s have way too much stuff.
• Kettle whistles.  Love that sound.  Upstairs for morning coffee and blogs!
• Jasper is not sleeping. Crying but tired.  Move him to Sage’s bed so that he can see out the window.  Works.
• Download cute paper dolls for Sage.  Spend too much time looking at paper crafts.  Finish coffee.
• Go unload washing machine.  Reload.  Put clothes away.  Think about how much I hate my horrid little laundry room.
• Do the semi-annual wardrobe shuffle.  Winter clothes go away and summer ones come out.  Try everything on.  Huge pile of things to be given away that I no longer like or fit.  Reload washer again.
• 11:15 Jasper up. Nurse.  Play on couch.  Read a baby einstein book.  There is a mirror in it that he likes.
• Upstairs to check blogs again.  Put the rubbermaid bins of Sage’s clothes back into her closet.  Sort through the box of shoes for Jasper.  Pull out ones that may fit soon.
• 12:15 downstairs to give Jasper lunch.  Then give him a rice cracker so I can put more clothes away.  Find more of Sage’s too small clothes to be put in boxes.
• Jasper not happy.  Practicing his ear-piercing scream.  Thought we were over that.
• Put him into Jumperoo so that I can eat my sandwich and put Sage’s clean clothes away.  Jasper still not happy but not crying.
• Talk to Carla quickly on msn.  Jasper still freaking out.  Go get him.
• 1:15 Jasper goes to bed.  I do more laundry.

Tuesday Afternoon

• 2pm Sage is back to watching Mary Poppins again.  I call her school to schedule parent-teacher interview.
• Jasper goes down for a nap.  Time for 2Peas!
• Try to figure out how to use Gimp.  I want to edit Ali’s template to make room for more journaling as she did in this post and I just can’t do it.  Very frustrating.
• Almost 4pm.  Let Sage go wake Jasper up so that we can go get Geoff.
• Geoff takes some pics on the way home!
• Making dinner…Geoff’s favourite..spaghetti.  Geoff feeds Jasper while I’m making sauce.
• I finally call Nat back while the water is heating up.  They want to come down May 24 weekend.
• Dinner done.  I’m back upstairs to write more down.  Paula texts saying they’ll come over tonight to watch Idol.  So strange to have friends nearby again!!  Wonder when we can tell them they’re not allowed to move somewhere else.
• Geoff and Sage go play outside.  Frisbee tag and hide and seek.
• I nurse Jasper.  kisses and tickles on the couch.
• 7:30 bedtime for both kids.  Geoff does story and Twinkle while I tidy kitchen up.
• Dishwasher loaded and on…and I can relax!
• Kam and Paula come over at 8:30.  We watch Idol, hang out and chat a bit and a couple episodes of the Office.  Turns out popcorn with just salt on it is pretty good!
• Geoff and I to bed at 10:30…watch Glee while in bed but I fall asleep.

Tuesday Morning

• 2:30am Jasper coughs.  Wakes me up and I’m up for at least an hour.
• 6:30am Alarm goes off.  Jasper has been up and moving around in his bassinet for at least an hour so I nurse him.  Get dressed to take Geoff to work today so I can have the car.
• Sage is wearing a dress over pants and a shrug on top.  The thought she puts into her outfits lately is too funny.
• Text from Paula.  Wants to know if I can PVR American Idol for them.
• 7am Leave.  In the car Sage says “I can’t believe Mom can make pancakes.  She’s excellent at it.  She thought she would suck.”
• Into town first to get McDonald’s coffee.  Drive to shop.
• 7:50 Get to No Frills.  Not open yet.  Wait in car for 10 mins.  Take dashboard shots of me pretending to drive.
• PC Organics baby food is on sale so I stock up.
• Back home.  Check tv for AI.  Text Paula that it’s ok.  Tidy house up.  Toys are everywhere!!
• Jasper is awake (had fallen asleep in the carseat).  Eats 2 jars of baby food.  Is fussy.
• Load dishwasher.  Hold baby.
• Upstairs to look at blogs.  Get text from Paula.  Wants to go shopping.
• 10:30 Pick up Paula.  Drive into Leamington to the health food store, Superstore (great deal on laundry detergent so I buy 4).  Adult conversation!  With someone who’s not Geoff!  I almost don’t remember how.
• LCBO – pick up our 2 new favourite wines.  Drop Paula off at home.
• Nurse Jasper.  Talk to Geoff on phone.  Needs to get his passport ASAP.
• Lunch for me and Sage.  Jasper plays on floor.
• Diet coke with Lime and blogs for me.  Sage outside to play.
• Jasper needs attention again.  Wipe his runny nose.  Neighbours probably think that I’m trying to kill him.
• Jasper eats lunch.
• Bring him upstairs to the bedroom to play and look at himself in the mirror.  Sage back inside and wants to play too.

Monday Afternoon and Pics

 

 

1:45pm-ish.  Finally get around to calling Nathalie back.  She's busy.  Get into shower.  Jasper is awake by the time I'm done.

Put him into his highchair with a PC Organics rice cracker so that I can dry my hair a bit and get dressed.

Chagen Jasper's diaper.  Poopy.  Get him dressed in outfit #2.  Nurse again.  Let him chew on my cell for a bit when he's done.  New fave activity.

Have a snack of Cracked Pepper Triscuits.  Yum.

Put Jasper on carpet to play.  Loves chewing on the strap of the nursing pillow I use to cushion his falls.

Watch a bit of Duplicity.

3:45 Leave to get Sage.  Get mail on way back.  I put Jasper down for a nap while Sage looks through her message bag.  Sage has milk and cookies for a snack.  I start to read the new House & Home mag.

Jasper crying.  Go try to comfort him.  Not working.  Pick him up and rock him.  Not working.  Get frustrated and just put him back down.  He's out within minutes.

Finish watching Duplicity.  Remember that I forgot to start boiling the ribs!

Sage watches Mary Poppins on the portable DVD player...takes to her room.

5:30 Jasper wakes up.  Feed him dinner.

6:10 Geoff home.  Stand in kitchen and talk while I prep dinner.  Talk at table when we're done eating for a bit.  Me back upstairs to loft to write some more stuff down while Geoff and Jasper play downstairs.  Sage back to finish movie.

7:30 Nurse Jasper again.  Geoff puts him to bed.  Sage comes downstairs for her story and Twinkle Little Star.  Upset that Jasper is already in bed so I tell her she can go in and say goodnight.  Instantly makes her happy.

Tries to stick her tongue in my mouth when she kisses me goodnight!  Thinks she's hilarious.

Watch CSI:Miami.  Ridiculous episode.  Not sure why we even watch this show anymore.

8:30 We can hear Sage singing french songs to herself in bed.  Loudly.

Nat calls back just before 9pm.  I am too tired to answer phone.  Go to bed shortly after

First day of Week in the Life! Monday Morning

• Geoff's alarm goes off at 6:30. I can hear Sage playing with Jasper's LeapFrog activity table in the living room. Jasper still has quite the cough.
• Jasper starts to cry so I get up at 6:50. Find that Sage has wheeled the bassinet over to the carpet and has put Jasper into his Bumbo. Nurse him.
• Sage tells me that she woke Jasper up by touching him on his head. She wanted someone to play with!
• Geoff gets up. Cuddle with J for a minute after I'm done. Sage still has not stopped talking.
• Go change J's diaper. Put him on carpet to play with Sage.
• Tidy kitchen. Make Sage's lunch.
• 7:15 Geoff leaves for work. Give Sage bowl of Shreddies. Make Jasper's oatmeal and prunes President's Choice Organic cereal. Sage gets ready.
• Check weather. Cool out this morning. Cuddles with J and Sage on couch. Notice how terrifingly long Sage's fingernails are getting. Cut them.
• 8:10 leave for bus. 8:26 back from bus. Remember that my electric kettle broke. Hunt for old red stove-top one. Put it on and then put J down for nap on our bed. Hear kettle whistling. Neat.
•  Upstairs for coffee and blogs.  Love my Tim Horton's french vanilla coffee.
• Coffe is done so now it's time to go clean Sage's room.  Looks like a cyclone hit it.  Wonder how on earth I'm going to manage when both kids are in here.
• 10am hear Jasper cooing to himself.  Play on the bed with him for a little bit.  Change diaper.  Put him on the floor to play.  Everything goes into the mouth!
• I have 2 oatmeal cookies and a glass of water for breakfast.  Unload dishwasher.
• Jasper fussy.  Over to play on floor with him.  Desperately wants my water glass.
• I turn on music.  Feel like I am constantly moving remotes and toys around.
• Back to dishwasher.  Load.  Jasper mad again.  Play.  Go get Jasper dressed.
• Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z comes on.  Jasper and I dance around living room.  Time to nurse him.  Cuddle on couch for a bit.  He's fascinated by my hoodie strings.
• Back up to Sage's room.  Jasper hangs out in FP Rocker.  Hang up clothes.  Put size 5 stuff in box for Roz.  30 mins later Jasper has had enough.  Move him to Intellitainer.  I take out box of Sage's summer clothes and put them into closet.
• Noon.  Lunch for Jasper is organic peas and brown rice followed by some sweet potatoes.  He has 10 minutes of floor play and then is down for his 2nd nap at 12:30.
• Lunch for me.  Leftover's from Saturday.  Pioneer Woman's Chicken with Tomatoes and Garlic and a couscous salad. 
• Watch first 20 minutes of The View.  Grab a Diet Coke with Lime and back up to check blogs.

Week in the Life Journal cards

and 2010 Sentiment Tabs.

The plan is to use The Story of Today overlays as my opener for each day instead of just an enlarged photo and daily tab as Ali is doing this year. This is my first time doing WITL and I'd really like to get down as many of the details as I can about our routine each day. I'm going to do 2 pages of baseball card size photos and intersperce the journaling cards and sentiment tabs in with these as well. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to do a 4th page for each day as Ali is...I guess I'll see how many photos I have from each day that I want to share.

I didn't buy a fancy new album for this project. I have a very funky 3-ring binder I bought ages ago and I'm just going to keep my pages in there. I'd love to use the same album in future years so that I can have a bunch of WITL projects in the same spot to look at as time goes by.

I'll post updates tomorrow of how I'm doing!! Wish me luck!

World's Worst Blogger

Seriously could I be any worse? December 2008 and then nothing til now. Yikes. I promise to be better. I fanatically follow quite a few blogs and love the idea of doing it myself but haven't seemed to follow through. I'll get back on the bandwagon.
