Took this of Sage just moments before the bus sped by her! The driver must have been daydreaming cause he totally forgot to stop for her. The look on her face was priceless. She was absolutely devastated. Fortunately he realized his mistake about a 100 feet down the road and backed up to get her.
The original point of the picture was that I was standing in the window as usual watching her til the bus came and was thinking about how small she looked. We expect so much of her...probably because she was an only for so long and now the oldest...it's hard to remember that she's only 6!

They've been playing together on this box shoved into the corner of the room for at least an hour. I have no idea why we continue to buy them actual toys! I love watching them interact with each other...I didn't realize how desperately Sage needed a sibling until he came along. Even with the 5 year age difference they still laugh together constantly.

Geoff has a trade show to work at tomorrow so Sage and I made him try on lots of outfits so we could narrow down the possibilities. Mr. GQ decided to add a pink striped tie to his navy and white shirt so Sage had to get in on the action too.

17 Months
You have temper tantrums. Unbelievable throw yourself down on the floor kicking and screaming temper tantrums. I have no idea where you picked this up.
You LOVE to be chased.
You sleep from 6pm til 7am with at least one nap during the day.
You would eat 24 hours a day if I let you. The only things you don't like are green beans and avocado.
You love to throw things. You pick up a toy, raise your arm above your head and we all go running out of your way.
You couldn't care less about being told No. I say it, you stare me down and then do what you were about to do anyways.
You love quiet time in your crib.
You never sit still.
You love being read to.
You pretend to talk on the phone now.
You play extremely well by yourself...as long as I'm in sight!
You scream bloody murder when we put you in the bath. But once in will play happily with Sage for up to an hour.
You love it when I hold you and we dance.

Picked up my mug to drink a sip of coffee and the handle snapped right off! All over my camera (gulp), ipod touch, keyboard and mouse. So far everything seems to still be working. Please excuse me while I go track down some Valium now.

Jasper's new-to-him toy. Gotta love it when friends clean out their toy rooms! He loves to bounce anywhere he can..in his crib, on Sage's bed, on our couch...so I was sure he'd be all over this. Nope. I think his legs just aren't long enough yet. Because if this toy came in my size I'd be all over it!!

Typical of me. I'm not sure that I own any socks that aren't polka dots or stripes. I like it this way. My wardrobe is pretty much the mom uniform of jeans, t-shirts and hoodies so I get creative where I can.

Today you learned how to climb from your little chair onto our big ones. You're so proud of yourself.

Sage slept in Jasper's room while our friends were down so that they could have her big bed. She asked if she could still sleep in with Jasper for one last night now that they're gone. She said she wanted him to have company so that he's not too sad about being all alone with me during the day tomorrow. Jasper loved it! He's going to miss her tomorrow night.

Had company down from Whitby this weekend...Sage and Elliot had fun hanging out in the igloo that Daddy built. We had fun having the kids out of the house!

I guess my cleaning job wasn't up to Jasper's standards. After I vacuumed and washed the floors on Friday he went back into the laundry room and brought this to me.

Sage's face this morning when Geoff called as she was all ready and about to go outside to wait for the bus. He informed us that the buses were cancelled! I never checked because it wasn't snowing or foggy but I guess the roads are quite icy. I'm pretty sure my face looked like this too...after all of us being sick for over a week I was SO READY for her to go back to school today.

Insurance paperwork. Geoff came home early today so that we could go get this notarized. Got horrible news regarding our settlement today. Can a 31 year old female have a heart attack? Cause I'm pretty sure that's about to happen.

Sage is home sick again today and has decided that I am her personal snack and drink fetcher. I am so ready for everyone to be well again!!

A houseful of sickies today. We stayed warm by the fire and practiced Sage's first ever French homework.

A busy day of snow-fort making, house cleaning, and lots of cooking. Trevar and Diane came over for the afternoon and stayed for dinner and a movie. Which we watched on their generous anniversary gift of a Blu-Ray player! Parts of this were so painful that I wanted to cover my eyes but very funny!

The Great Toy Purge of 2011. Thanks to Jasper's incredibly long sick-baby nap this morning, I got time to sort through a bunch of toys and set aside ones that he rarely uses. I have been dying to de-clutter the insane amount of toys that we have. They are listed on kijiji and I am eagerly awaiting buyers!

Evening play time. Jasper took a late nap today so actually got to stay up to enjoy Sage and Daddy goofing around.

The only way to get Jasper not to cry when we take him out of his highchair (and therefore away from any potential food!) is to give him his drink right away. But then when the cup is empty he throws it and screams!

I've been sick all week so it's been up to Geoff to get something together for dinner. Tonight he picked up english muffins, pizza sauce and pepperoni on the way home. Made mini pizzas. Sage thought they were the greatest thing ever. So much for my elaborate meals!
Craftaholics Anonymous: t-shirt pom poms TUTORIAL
Just discovered this post....um...gorgeous!! I am so wishing I had seen this before I did the baby shower decorations for my sister-in-law. Love them!

Her blood-curdling screams must have been heard by our neighbours...who live about a football field away. All because Daddy was holding her upside down...and her fingers were at least 1/4 centimetre off the floor! And then there's Jasper in the corner. Waiting eagerly for his turn!

Jasper's first time actually playing in the snow. The real story of the day though is that his boots are purple with pink hearts! Geoff decided this morning that he wanted Jasper to be able to play in the snow so he went into town to get him some boots. The only ones left were these! Oh well...real men wear pink!

The morning goodbye. I love how Sage always wants to hug and kiss Jasper when she leaves. My heart is full when I watch the interactions the two of them have.
Project Life Organization
Today I had an epiphany and forced myself to stop over-thinking my Project Life album.
My original plan was to grab an appropriate journaling card out of the box each day that would coordinate with my picture and the thoughts I wanted to get down. But come on...as good as that sounds because I do love to be all matchy-matchy...I know that there are going to be times when the box isn't handy and I put off doing it. So...when Jasper went down for his morning nap (or should I say non-nap) I laid out all the cards on the floor and went to town on getting them in my album.
Here's the order I laid them out in. The first 2 rows are all the cards that have lots of room for journaling, the third row are calendar or date based cards and the last row are all the cards that have lots of pre-printed verbage on them. I started in the top left corner and went down in rows grabbing one of each card. Put them all in the album and Voila! In under 20 minutes my album is well under way.
I know that there are going to be dates when what I want to journal about isn't going to match the card. That's ok. It's super simple to just switch out the card for another one that's already in the album. And no having to pull out the 5 separate boxes of cards to search for an appropriate one.
I'm happy with the start that I am off to. Love the way my album is looking and all the little details that in these first few days I have already captured.
I have missed scrapbooking like crazy these last 6 months. Though I wouldn't really call PL scrapbooking, it's fulfilling my need to play with pictures and pretty paper for now!

This was as close as I could get Jasper to the dreaded vacuum machine. He won't go anywhere near the hallway with it sitting there. Wish I had discovered this sooner!

Project Life Tuesday
And it has begun!
A quick photo Geoff snapped of me late at night with horrible lighting and a frightening background cause I was dying to open that box!
It's been going great so far..ha...4 days in. Whoop dee doo. But seriously, taking photos and writing some quick notes about my day has long been a part of my routine anyways. Taking a photo a day will probably be challenging during some phases of our year but I just have to be that much more conscious of having my camera around.
I am most excited about incorporating other elements into my album. Reports and school work that come home with Sage, lists I make throughout the day, tickets and mementos from events we go to...all the stuff besides just the pictures that give a glimpse into our daily life. All the things that I hang onto already because I want to do something with them but never get around to.
I've had one problem after another with my PC for the last year so we finally bit the bullet and ordered a Mac. It came in late last week and I just love it. The learning curve has been ridiculous though...I could rock a PC like no other but when it comes to figuring out the simplest actions on a Mac I am relying on Google. Not being able to right click is driving me a bit insane but the gorgeousness of this machine sitting on my desk makes me smile.
So begins the first photo of my year.
Now to figure out iPhoto. Any thoughts? Is it worth playing with or should I stick with my conventional method of using folders that I've done for years?
Here are some great resources that I believe I will be relying on over the course of the year:
Project Life Community at Big Picture Classes
Following Ali Edwards as she hopefully posts updates on her album
Of course following Becky's blog
This fabulous list from Creating Keepsakes for when I'm stuck for photo ideas

The last day for Geoff at home. Sage is off to school and the rest of us had a lazy morning (again) then a quick trip to Windsor to pick up photos at Costco. Jasper has been enjoying all the extra time with Daddy. Makes Mommy happy too!

Project Life 1/365
A quiet start to the year. Sage spent the night at Sheila's so Geoff and Jasper and I stayed in. I set up my new Mac - so exciting - while Geoff played on his netbook and watched tv. Jasper followed both of us around all day. Watched an American Pickers marathon on tv to finish off the evening.
